it took a long time to get my pho here. longer than any other pho place. the atmosphere was fairly more inviting than most pho places. a little hipper. good food.

This place is like a stone's throw away from me so I decided to give it a shot. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Spring Rolls & Combo Beef Phô. The spring rolls were great, but I wasn't a fan of the sauce that came on the side (not that it was bad, just wasn't for me). Phô was EXCELLENT!!! Broth was flavorful and not too oily, veggies were fresh as could be, all-in-all I had a great experience and will definitely be back for more.

The service was great. Decent atmosphere. My fiance and I weren't to impressed with the rare steak pho. It had absolutely no flavor. I would come here again to try different menu options but not for my favorite rare steak pho.
(3)Tommy T.
I did not like my food. The meat was cooked too well done . The rice was too dry. The waitress was dressing inappropriate in booty shorts and short sleeve shirt And al least wear an apron .She did not know what they have in the restaurant, wasn't very professional . Some food they had were pretty decent but need more work the Bun Bo Hue didn't had enough ingredient , couldn't smell original like how it really should, some parts of the place need some cleaning, mostly in the corners. The beverages didn't have much selection and the tea needed to be more sweeter, it was to out of flavor. The place looked decent in design .

Chao Bac! Com Tam moves the best $3 grilled chicken Vietnamese sandwich in SD. It's pretty serious. Why would you go to McDonald's and buy a Big Mac for $4 when you could eat healthier here, and for less? Short answer: you're American and you're probably overweight (that's just statistics, sorry). Probably look like my profile picture. I've since lost the weight and it can be attributed to healthy foods like those I order at Com Tam 75. I think I even saw your nutritionist in this place. Com Tom means pork and rice I think. I don't know what the hell 75 is for. It should simply be called Saigon Seriooooous. Because it is. They even have cable TV and really nice employees. At one time, the owner even had the NBA package on TV. That's awesome, and unexpected from a small Vietnamese joint in City Heights. I bought the avocado boba smoothie and it was too good for just $3. No more Tapioca Express for this stud. Com Tam, you're my spot. Admittedly--nothing beats that Big Mac special sauce though, right?

This is one of my favorite Pho places. I had the #64 it was delicious! It's a spicy seafood noodle soup, to my surprise it came a large piece of pork and pork blood cubes (not a fan of by the way, but it was good). I'll be coming back for more fo' sho'!

Very impressed with the food and service. I've been to many Vietnamese restaurants and this one comes close to the best ones, in my opinion. The service was fast and the food taste very authentic. The decor is modern yet intimate. I thought the menu had a good variety and a little bit of Thai flavor. Something you don't find at other Vietnamese restaurants. Will certainly go again.

Been driving past this place on the way home for months and didn't have much of a lunch so after a long day on the job a piece of cardboard and an ice cold beer would hit the spot right about now. I was drawn in by the $5 beef noodle soup special but opted out and went with #39 beef and broken rice plate. Now I've had more than my fair share of Vietnamese rice plates and I can say this place surprised me. Everything was fresh and tasty and the broth soup which at any other Viet restaurant is a nice touch but never anything spectacular actually was presented nicely and came with extras to ass to the flavor! I'm big on spicy food and must have the house chili oil and they did good with that as well good simple yet complex flavor. The greens that came on the plate actually look like a thoughtfully prepared salad which is a nice touch! Definitely impressed. Will have to return to try the other menu items!
(5)Steven L.
This is the best pho place. They have the five dollar pho special. I spoke to the owner a few times. He is so nice. He told me he gets all his food from Costco so its the highest quality. Besides Vietnamese food he also has some American food. Love it.
(5)B G.
My new favorite Pho spot! This place is less expensive, nicer, and delicious!! Love this place, love the staff so kind and warm! Thank you :)
(5)serina c.
I went to try this place based on pretty decent yelp reviews and I was so disappointed. I was on my way to Saigon but decided why not try somewhere new. I have never had Pho before where the broth was just plain disgusting and had no flavor. How do you go wrong with pho? I also ordered a Vietnamese broken rice dish and it too was not good and the portions were really small compared to other viet restaurants. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is that the waiter was soooo nice and spoke English well. Too many GOOD Vietnamese restaurants in the area to return here
(2)Sly L.
BBQ ribs taste like a regular American ribs nothing special, it should be taken out of the house special, it's my first time eating here so far not so good, "first impression last"
(1)James L.
I have been going here regularly for about a year and am impressed with their Durian and Avocado Shakes. It is close to where I live and has a very casual environment. The food is okay, however the service is somewhat cold and impersonal. Once I found paper mixed into my Durian Shake. The prices are reasonable and there is ample parking outside.
(2)Vincent N.
Great food! Reminds me of the quality of food you would find in a decent Vietnamese restaurant one would find in Orange County (the largest population of Vietnamese people outside of Vietnam) which is saying something. I would definitely come back. Reminds me of home.
(4)Tran N.
A modern approach to Vietnamese rice ? I dont know.. its just not working though. I bought a Dac Biet ( special) com tam and the beef was delicious but the porkchop was so dry and hard. :( It tasted like it was fried instead of grilled. The name of the restaurant is Com Tam, thinking they would have really good rice plates but I didnt think so. Although the curry fettuccine was really delicious. It was a different approach and I really actually enjoyed that alot.
(3)Jennifer B.
My family and I love this restaurant and find ourselves dining here more often than any other place. The prices are fair, food quality is wonderful, and the overall atmosphere is very refined and relaxing. Love.

Am I eating at the same place everyone else ate at?...cause I liked Com Tam 75! I had a long day of standing and being cold and was craving some pho! Luckily a friend and I came upon this place right before it closed. Their menu was pretty eclectic. It's mostly Vietnamese and Chinese food...with a dash of American breakfast/desserts/Mexican food, and even Korean tacos?!?! I was definitely stoked about the short rib tacos and will come back just for that one day, but back to what I ate... I got the #47 Pho with all the cuts of meat, tendon and tripe, and a Thai iced tea...all were super good! The broth of the soup was tasty and clean, and the cuts of meat were quality! The tea was nice, creamy, flavorful, and a perfect way to end my meal. I'd even go so far as to say this is the best bowl of pho I've had in SD. The service is fantastic...and the bathrooms...immaculate...I was shocked! I hate to say it but most Asian places don't have the cleanliest of bathrooms, but this one was the cleanest I've ever seen, Asian or not. It sparkled! Anyway, I can't wait to go back to try the other food they have to offer! Yum!
(5)Amy G.
My favorite Pho from this neighborhood. The broth is flavorful, and the ingredients are fresh (the sprouts are never brown or the basil wilting). I've only had their Pho and their Chicken spring rolls, and both are very yummy. Pho runs from 5 to 6 dollars, and it will fill you up, so it's a very good deal. Friendly and quick service, very accommodating to take out orders.
(5)Jason G.
After only visiting Com Tam 75, I'm not able to speak about much other than the place itself and the grilled chicken banh mi I ate. The restaurant is bigger, cleaner and has a more funky aesthetic going on than I would have expected from the outside. Bright new paint on the walls, Fatheads of Kobe and LT, a fish tank, and a good-size TV with HLN and Casey Anthony squawking out of it. I was all alone on a Friday at lunch time. Maybe this has more of an evening crowd. The employee was very nice and helpful. The banh mi was good, but the chicken was a little too full of fat and skin for my picky American sensibilities. The bread was great. Like other reviewers, I too am impressed with the extensive menu and vow to return to try other stuff.
(3)Nate J.
went for the 2nd time and wasn't in the mood for asian... so i got a philly cheese steak! i was pleasantly surprised! great flavor and cooked perfectly! oh yeah the pho is pretty awesome!

OK, so this place isn't quite up to Phuong Trang on Convoy, or Le Bambou in Del Mar, but it is close to SDSU and makes for a quick study break. I like their goi cuon (spring rolls). Their regular roll is the traditional pork and shrimp roll, but they also have shredded pork and lap xuong rolls. The mark of a roll that was constructed by someone who knew what they were doing: Eating it should be nothing like eating a burrito. You should be able to set it down after biting into it without it unrolling or the contents falling out. These rolls fit the bill; you can actually pick them up with chopsticks. I just wish they served the rolls with nuoc cham (fish sauce, vinegar, and pickled veggies) instead of the hoisin sauce and peanuts that seems to have replaced it at Vietnamese restaurants everywhere. Today I had the teriyaki beef sandwich. I was expecting a traditional bahn mi with pickled veggies, jalapeno, and seasoned meat, but instead it was chopped steak (probably ribeye) with sauteed onions and peppers soaked in a sauce that was something between an au jus and sweet teriyaki. Sorta like a cheesesteak minus the cheese plus Asian sauce. It was good and filling, but I am glad I ate it there because it would have been soggy if I had gotten it to go. Sadly, it doesn't appear they bake their bread on premises the way Cali Baguette Express does. The also have a menu of non-Asian dishes such as smoothies, nachos, stew, and American sandwiches. I would never order such at a Vietnamese restaurant, but if you are having lunch with friends or co-workers who are not particularly adventurous eaters you can bring them here and they can still stay within their comfort zones. The owner and staff are very nice, and service is practically instantaneous.

Just moved into the neighborhood, and my boyfriend and I have been trying to figure out which restaurant was going to be our "go to" spot. NAILED IT! Our rating is based on 2 simple, yet crucial, MUST HAVES. 1 - pho here = delicious! The broth was super flavorful, and the meat (we are pretty simple: rare meat...on the side) was nothing short of amazing. How do they do that - get soooo much flavor is raw meat?!?! 2 - peanut sauce. YUM! Their spring rolls were super fresh; add their peanut sauce and you've got happy campers on your hands. I also have to hand it to whoever decorated the place - FUN! Most pho places are...meh - cold and somewhat harsh. Not this place. Rolly chairs that even lean back: SIGN ME UP! Try this place. Its quieter than most pho places, the food is fab and the waitstaff helpful.

Since management refused to accept a purchased Group on, and was VERY VERY rude, but I decided not to support this merchant. Guess they don't understand the term "customer service".
(1)Jimmy N.
I'm a big fan of the LA food truck scene and knowing that there's a place in San Diego that serves KOREAN SHORT RIB TACOS is awesome! I love this place.
(5)Danny T.
Been here twice now and still bomb! They got a wide selection on food little upset that they don't have the Korean BBQ spare rib taco anymore but they have pho, com tam, noodles, and boba

Eh, kinda disappointing. Four of us (all white guys) headed in last week. The place was empty. Furniture layout was pretty weird but no big deal. The menu board only had like three items on it and looked like it was in the process of transition. There was a printed menu with all of the selections on it however. The proprietor came over and helped us out and was extremely friendly and engaging. I attempted to order a dish of duck and bamboo shoots and she told me that the bamboo was stinky. I inquired and she went on that "white people think its stinky, order something else." I insisted on my original order and after getting everyone else's orders she left. The shrimp spring rolls were really nice, fresh tasting with good texture. The peanut dipping sauce was no good at all. My food was pretty poor, the broth (which is the whole point) was bland and vaguely sweet, real disappointing. The duck that was in it was super duper dry and over cooked and almost inedible. Owners probably need to take a step or two back and have a real solid look at their place. The layout of the inside is disconcerting, the lack of a full menu board doesn't inspire confidence and I agree with a previous reviewer that the bathroom was not pleasant at all. While it was clean, it was sketchy looking for sure.

We love this place. June, the proprietor, is a sweetheart and bends over backward to make sure your food is to your liking. The items I have ordered are consistently excellent, and I love that you can order a bunch of non-Asian dishes if you choose. The guacamole is excellent! Really! (As good as Su Casa's guac, better than Ponce's.) So you can go there with people that are craving Vietnamese food, and you can enjoy a SCRUMPTIOUS veggie sandwich, or spaghetti, or _________. Fun. The ambiance is unusual, but not so much that is distracts from the yummy food and excellent service. I will be back, for sure. Fresh Fresh Fresh. Bummed to see the negative reviews.

Had lunch at Com Tam 75, Vietnamese, and was not disappointed at all! I had a tofu-veg stirfry noodle dish, and it was full of very fresh ingredients. Cucumber, lettuce, mint, cilantro, carrot, peanut, sprouts, lightly fried tofu, large shitake mushrooms, lightly cooked pieces of celery, and I don't remember what else. All on a bed of vermicelli, with sweet sauce on the side. I also like to add a lot of Hoisin sauce. Tony had beef pho and it was extremely tasty as well, which I know because I leaned over with my own spoon to steal a couple of bites. We started with veggie tofu spring rolls and finished with a freshly made mango smoothie with boba, making it a somewhat extravagant lunch for us. We both left very full... a little too full maybe. The prices were great. Really we would have been very satisfied with one lunch each, totaling about $14 before tip. But with the extras and some tea, we spent $23 plus tip.

With apologies to Reggie S. and Jessica T., but this place is not worth it. Let me break down my review into several sections and perhaps you can see where they fail to deliver. Ambience: 5/5. I didn't visit the restroom since I just ordered a com tam to go so I can't comment on that. The restaurant itself is clean, bright and modern. Menu selection: 3.5/5. I won't gripe too much about the relatively small selection of dishes since I detest those asian restaurants where they list hundreds of variations of a dish... they know who they are. But I agree with another reviewer that it's a bit skimpy for a place that you'd think focuses on primarily com tam. So when I saw only a few com tam selections but an item called "Curry Chicken Fettucine" I had to raise my eyebrows. Taste: 3.5/5. I ordered the Com Tam 75 Dac Biet (Com Tam 75 Special). It was very decent tasting although nothing to write home about. Value: 0/5. Ah... so here's where my problem is. The Com Tam 75 Dac Biet is $10.95. After tax it was $12 something. I left a dollar tip even though it was take out. So $13.00 for a com tam dish. I take it home and what did I find? Pretty much all rice and none of the meat! I got 2 measly shrimp, a 1.5" x 1.5" block of the egg/meat pie (Vietnamese: cha), about 2 tables of shredded pork (bi), a small pork cutlet, a fried egg, and a small piece of BBQ beef. I would say the ratio of rice to the meats is about 85% rice and 15% meat. That's pretty much unacceptable for a $13.00 com tam dish. As you can see, I rate value very highly and unfortunately that drags everything else down. If you want delicious com tam with a lot of the good stuff (the grilled meat, shredded pork, etc.) try Saigon about a mile down the road. Better tasting (probably 4.5/5 on the com tam dish) and a much greater value. It was my first and last time at this place.

How can you not be a phan of Phó?? In ten minutes I had enough for two people receiving an order of THREE MASSIVE spring rolls (the "grass" inside was a bit tough to bite through but the rest was scrumptious!) and a huge amount of Phó for just me! I ended up making two meals out of it.....the only thing was, I asked for a combo but only got beef (which I found out at home). Otherwise it was clean, quick and yummy!
(4)Kathy W.
Favorite pho place in San Diego! The place is clean and the staff is super nice. My guy friends love coming here cause they always have ESPN on. I usually do a takeout order and it is so yummy every time. When I get it home it is still piping hot and they pack everything you need for the pho. Also there is always parking in the parking lot. Overall, this place is wonderful and I can't wait to go back!
(5)Brie R.
If I could, I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. Not after what happened to me at least... My roommate and I decided to grab some pho after a long day of moving and since Com Tam was our usual pho spot, we settled on this place. Our meal was going fine and the food was the same as it had been several times before. As we were sitting, my friend looked to the floor and saw a dead cockroach but we figured it had crawled in from outside and died, so we paid it no mind. Once our meal was finished, my friend went to the restroom and I sat waiting. After a minute, I felt something on my leg and thought it was a fly, so I shook it off. Right after, I felt it again, but this time decided to look down. Crawling away from me was a large cockroach!! I had never been so grossed out in my life. From that moment, I told my roommate that I would never eat from this restaurant again. It's time for me to find a new pho place because after this incident, this place is no longer on my list.

Brought a rather large group to Com Tam 75 on a weekday. They had welcoming signs on both front and back doors. They were gracious and patient, answering questions for people unfamiliar with the menu. Considering the size of the crowd (all tables were full), orders were delivered efficiently. Everyone seemed really happy with the food, which was tasty and beautifully presented. Com Tam is different from the other phos and cafes serving Vietnamese food, in that there is a fusionistic flair, combining Japanese (teriyaki), Korean (short ribs), and even including a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich in the Viet style. Kudos, for a clean, CLEAN, bright, airy restaurant with a warm welcome for everyone!
(5)Isurimei D.
I've had great customer experience here. Although the food was a different story. Yhe meat was tuff and my broth had no flavor. If it wasent for my squeezed lime im not sure what I would have tasted...
(2)John T.
Amazing Pho! Great service and huge portions. The meat is really thinly sliced and melts in your mouth. One of the best Pho places in San Diego. Highly recommended.
(5)Josie X.
The staff is so humble and welcoming. We live in the neighborhood so we eat here atleast once a week. The dishes are not overpriced at all and it comes with large portions. Satisfying and very appreciative for the hospitality. Thank you Com Tam 75!
(3)M T.
I've only been there three times, but I love this place. The manager is such a nice lady and it feels like home when I'm there. The first dish I tried was orange chicken. Which is one of my favorites, right next to general tso's chicken. It was awesome, there was a perfect match of chicken and vegetables, and the manager packed the plate for me. I also like their vegetarian selections. Whenever I eat there I always finish being stuffed and having leftovers to take home. The waiters are also very kind and are always quick to refill your cup. I was suprised when I didn't even have to put my leftovers in a box. They did it all! I go here once a week now!
(5)Matt M.
Pretty decent little spot, tasty food but a little expensive. Ordered take out, so didn't get to really hang out inside.
(3)George W.
This place was just OK. My nephew who is Vietnamese and lives in LA actually gave it a lower rating. The place was nice and the service was good.
(3)Andie L.
noticed this place a couple times driving past, and when the visiting boyfriend said he wanted vietnamese food, i suggested we could try this place out. we both got some variation of the pork com tam. compared to places in orange county, this place was kind of bland. it was alright, but i would probably not come back for the price. i noticed all the meat was on a skewer, which i thought was a bit weird. i've only had com tam a couple of times, but i never had seen it served like this. it was also a bit grisly for my taste. my bf (he's vietnamese) thought the place wasn't very authentic... i mean, their carrots and veggies weren't even pickled! :( to top it off, i had a major msg induced food coma for the next 8 hours including a panging headache [i never, ever get these], so that was pretty much the deciding factor!
(2)Dorothy T.
My sister and my dad came here an hour before closing since we were starving from the drive from norcal. Anyways, when we wanted to order, the waiter pretty much said that every thing that we wanted they didn't have yet. If you don't have something, why have it on the damn menu?! I'm thinking they just didn't want to cook anything complicated towards closing. I usually don't expect much when it comes to a vietnamese restaurant, but this place sucked. We ended up ordering 2 broccoli beefs. SUPER SALTY!!! Even with rice it was salty! Had to rinse off the sauce in the soup that they gave, which had too much MSG. So all together, horrible experience. Definitely not ever going back there if I'm ever in town.
(2)Tram D.
I came here today in the evening with my friend and we were the only ones there until a couple people showed up later. I guess reputation spreads fast that this place sucks and people aren't showing up. The place looks clean and modern with chairs that have wheels on the bottom so you can roll around. There is bar seating along the walls and windows of the restaurant. I ordered a com tam bi cha thit nuong ( broken rice with grilled pork), and my friend ordered com tam bi cha tom nuong (broken rice with grilled shrimp). I was totally surprised by the quantity of food that came out. There was a lot of rice, but the cha (egg & meat loaf) was extremely small and there were only 4 small thinly sliced pieces of grilled meat. My friend only got 3 tiny shrimps that didn't even look or tasted grilled. The amount of meat or shrimp we got is roughly 1/3rd of a comparable dish found in other restaurants such as phuong trang or saigon. The meat was ok but did not taste anywhere near as good as Saigon on El Cajon or Phuong Trang on Convoy. What's worse is the price is the same at 6.95, which is totally overpriced for what you get. Based on the food quantity, quality, and price I would recommend everyone avoid this place at all costs. Or if you want to get revenge on someone, then recommend this place to your worst enemy.

Had the number 65 on the menu. Comes with pig feet and blood. One of my fav. I usually eat that however my bf didn't like it as much cause it wasn't his taste, but he eats that dish all the time at different Vietnamese restaurants. Everyone has different taste buds so this happens to be my taste. Approved!

My coworker picked up some to-go orders for us. while he was waiting for the orders, he had a sit-in lunch here. his noodle dish was salty and he let the waiter know. they brought the dish back and he said all they did was just add more broth to it. It was still salty!!! so he ordered a rice combination to go. it was like $10 a dish! really? when we got our two noodle dishes, which was vermicelli noodles with egg rolls, shredded pork and charboiled pork, we said the noodles were old. it looked like the noodles were in the fridge from the day before. there wasn't alot of meat, the pickled veggies weren't even pickled. and the fish sauce was bland, no flavor to it. the rice combination... I don't even want to think about it. so with the first noodle dish at the restaurant, the 2 noodle dish to go and the rice combination to go, that was $45 dollars wasted. sticking to the El Cajon Blvd and Menlo Ave area from now on. Yuck to Com Tam 75!!!!

There is a large Vietnamese community in san diego but limited number of goof Vietnamese restaurant. Com Tam 75 is among one of the good ones. This is a small establishment, family owned business on El cajon blvd. I've heard about it so decide to check it out. The Com Tam (broken rice) supposed to be popular here. We order the Com Tam of course and it did not disappoint. The pork chop was well flavored and the rice was just right. The side soup is not bad either. The Vientiane coffee is also pretty good. The place is clean and service is friendly. Couldn't ask for more, especially at these local authentica asian owned restaurants, which supposed to have a reputation of uncleaniness and bad service lol. U haven't tried other dished but Com Tam is good. Def recommend

There was a bug in my food. Came here 1 time for lunch with my ex and her dad. The inside is nice and new, looks clean for the most part. We all ordered broken rice dishes, started eating and whooooop there it is. I don't even know what kinda bug it was but it was clear enough to see that it had wings, I wish I had a picture. I didn't bother complaining to them because they had already given me the wrong order. I ordered a pork chop, but they gave me the shredded pork skin stuff. I didn't complain about that because I was like whatever I'll just eat it. I didn't wanna embarrass my ex's dad cause he was the one who chose the place and wanted us to try it. I got a little bowl of pho broth on the side also. Which was bland so no point in eating that. I had to tell them I wasn't "that hungry" since I didn't finish my food. It's not even worth trying to go back again.
(1)Philip M.
I am not impressed with this restaurant on El Cajon Blvd. 1) Their pho is not that good. I have been to almost the majority of the Vietnamese restaurants on El Cajon Blvd, and Com Tam 75 ranks near the bottom of the Pho rating list. 2) I ordered the fried rice another time and broke out from hives within 2 hours of eating it. I think it's maybe because they re-use their cooking oil to fry their rice. I eat fried rice a lot, and I have never broken out with skin issues until my experience at Com Tam.

4.26: Weird decor, I wasn't sure what the theme was, it was cool to see Kobe sticker on the wall however. I order the Broken Rice, my rice was super cold and hard, old rice. I asked for another one and they did apologize and gave me new rice right away. The food was okay at best and well unfortunately nothing really stood out for me and so I don't believe I will come back again. I mean I don't mind if I'm in the area of course.

Hands down one of the worst pho I have ever had. My dad warned me about this place. We're Vietnamese and he said the food here was not good. I decided to give this place a try and see for myself and man was he right, the food was not good. I got the special pho that came with all of the fixings, rare steak, brisket, beef balls, tendon, and tripe. Some of the meats were ok while others like the brisket were not. Brisket was mainly all fat and some parts were a bit tough. I did like the rare steak and the tendon was very tender. Everything else was eh. The noodles had a very hard consistency to them. Usually as you eat the noodles were softer as they absorb the broth. These stayed firm so it felt like I was eating raw noodles. This could be a problem with the broth not being hot enough. Now to the broth. The temperature wasn't the only problem, the flavor was way off. My first sip I knew it was going to be down hill. It lacked any real flavor and tasted different, but different in a bad way. The herb plate was also a bit sad looking. The bean sprouts looked fresh but the basil did not. They were tiny leaves and some were beginning to wilt. Service and the cleanliness of the place were what saved it from a 1 star but that's not enough for me to come back and give this place a try. I actually left hungry...If you want pho I recommend going down El Cajon Blvd to Pho Hoa.
(2)Wendy A.
Pho is bland broth doesn't have much flavor service is slow. I tried a few times but is missing something. My daughter got sick after eating the chicken pho, i really wanted to like this place. Is very close to my house ):
(2)Danny N.
I had the ga cuon nuong and an avacado smoothie. It was really good overall. I do notice that everyone else who ordered a noodle soup had smaller portions. Overall this place has a very nice setup. Will come again and try the noodle soups!
(4)Jasmine C.
My go to pho place!! I always order the pho #56 or #57. I forget which one, but the one with all rare meat only. I give only 4 stars because I feel like they could add more meat sometimes. They give enough bean sprouts (my personal favorite), limes, basil leaves, and jalapeño slices for you to put in yourself. Overall I love it! The restaurant is clean and quiet.
(4)Guy M.
I'm a big fan of Vietnamese sandwiches! Try their prime rib, it is awesome!
(4)Juan T.
We live in the area and go to this place often for broken rice or Pho, the prices are right and you get a large amount of food. The restaurant is clean and the food is of good quality. My biggest complaint is the service. All of the female servers have been helpful, but the male servers have bad and at a times disrespectful... to the point that I have walked out of the place very disappointed by the service. If you come here, take your food to go, don't expect a to have a good time at this restaurant.

This place is really good and cheap and I loved their yellow curry. The staff was very nice. We haven't been in several months because the last time we were there, I saw two huge roaches - one on the floor by my feet and one in the wall. Just can't get myself to go back.

My fiancé & I love com tam 75! We come here all the time! The rare beef pho & spring rolls are our favorite. We personally like the pork & shrimp spring rolls best, however we have tried them all & they're all delicious. We have also tried their chicken wings, egg rolls, & their vermicelli salad & to say the least we haven't tried anything we haven't liked there! I would definitely recommend this place!

I love this place. The food is ALWAYS good and the place is ALWAYS clean. The service is quick and they are so friendly here.

Used to come here like every other week.. always order the same beef pho and having left over.. Their food was ok till my last two experience. My roommate and I went there to get their beef pho.. pho's taste was funny and we both felt weird that even my roommate was about to throw up. After that bas experience I didn't go there for pho but still like their smoothie with boba. And unfortunately the last boba wasn't a boba. They were like little rock in my smoothie. =( I probably won't go back.. too bad losing a place that close to my apt.

Went here after studying at sdsu on rainy day and was craving soup, we didn't know where to get pho so we just drove around. This was the first pho place we spotted so we immediately went here because we were so hungry. It was around 3pm so there were only a few customers. We were greeted and seated immediately. My friend and I shared the combo pho and I had a thai iced tea. The pho was bland and they were stingy with the meat, most of the meat had lots of fat. They gave us more noodles than meat. The thai tea was not as sweet as what I am used to. I would not come back or recommend this place. I give them 2 stars for customer service and how clean and nice the place looks inside.

Stopped in for lunch with my coworker today and we had a great meal. I had the chicken vermicelli bowl which was great, I was missing the lettuce though which usually comes with the bowls and my co worker had the sandwich and he was super impressed, said he eats quite a few of then but this was a great one! We also shared the spring rolls, they were packed full of shrimp, pork and fresh veggies, some of the better ones I have had. The minus star is due to it being super hot and muggy inside and there were some flies buzzing around which kinda grossed me out. But it was a great value, under $20 for all of that! I'm sure I will frequent again but probably on a cooler day.

One of my Vietnamese friend said the pho here is bland. I thought it was okay, but then again, pho everywhere tastes like pho anywhere to me. And if you had legit Thai iced tea boba, do not get it here because you will be disappointed. So if you're fine with alright pho, then this is the place to go. The service is good because they're attentive.

So far great experience and great food in last two visits! Waiter even made some special ginger tea for me!

Bbq pork on the broken rice is very bland, the egg loaf is too peppery, fish sauce tastes likes water. I finished a meal with NO after taste whatsoever . I will not talk about the service because I have yet to find a viet restaurant provides decent customer service.

I love to come here for their (cold) spring rolls. The ingredients are great, fresh, and just the taste I loom for when I am craving spring rolls. I also love the sauce that it comes with. In addition, the sandwiches are great. For just less than ten dollars you can get both the spring rolls and the sandwich, and both come in very large portions! A lot of places only give 2 spring rolls with each order but this place comes with 3 for about four bucks. It's great! Plus the staff is really friendly regardless of what time of day I come to eat here.

I miss the old owners. They use to be a lot cheaper and they also had more variety. The staff is usually very near nice. Price is still very decent. My favorite is their curry fettuccine. I don't go here as often as I used to anymore. Last I checked they still had the pho special going on for five bucks, which tasted pretty good.

Food was ok... But it seems like they are running some illegal gambling here because the workers are in one table playing cards. Some of the restaurants (employee) friends came in and they immediately forgot their patrons... Piss poor service. Too bad because the food is decent. Not worth the waiting.... Waiting for water refill. Waiting for my box. Waiting for them to pick up my check. Waiting for them to stop playing cards so they can serve me...!!!! Go somewhere else. I finished this review waiting for them to pick up my debit card.... Still waiting..... You would think that so many people employees someone will do something.... Still waiting.....,,,,

I judge pho places based on 2 things. The pho and the spring rolls and will only order other items on the menu if a Vietnamese business passes those 2 tests. I enjoyed both and will consider ordering other things from the menu now. The only things is my semester is over and I don't see myself passing by on the BLVD until a few more months from now. I love the fish tank inside. Very clean restaurant.

Only had the Pho, so can't comment on much other than that and the service. Several friends recommended this place so I thought why not, waiter was friendly, but keep in mind this is a family run place. I don't mind that he and his sister were dining at the next table while he occasionally got up to check on our table. Some less traveled Americans might find that strange. But for me it's part of the charm. I will be back to try the broken rice and the rolls for sure.

Bf & I came in for a quick bite. We ordered the (broken rice) com tam 75 dac biet, fried egg rolls & sweet/spicy wings. No bueno: The broken rice is a huge portion but that's the only good part. Cold rice, wet lettuce, over cooked shrimps, tasteless pork chop, egg loaf & beef. At least my sunny side eggs yolks were perfectly cooked & so was the tofu. So-so: Fried eggrolls were amazingly crispy & crunchy but on the small skinny size. Too much carrots but it wasn't bad. Don't do it: The "wings" unlike the eggrolls it was not crispy at all. Greasy soggy wings horribly gross! Seems like it was just slightly fried, then lathered with bottled chili sauce & had them soaking in it. Nasty!! Definitely will not be making another visit here.

This is a cute little com tham place if you are craving some broken rice. I've been a couple times and have never been disappointed of course if you go you should order their broken rice, after all its in the name. Their soup is delicious and not to mention if you are a Kobe fan then they have got a few pictures of him there too

Mostly everything I've tried here was good, with the exception of their egg rolls. We usually get the bbq pork sandwich and the rare steak pho. Both are delicious. The orange chicken is pretty good, as well. The fresh lemonade is made to order and is quote tasty. Overall the service good, but I have had a certain waitress mess up our simple order a couple of times. This place is right up the street from my house and we definitely like to come here every so often considering it's pretty cheap too.

I love this place! They have a plethora of items on the menu ranging from Vietnamese to American! The food comes out quick and it's fresh to your order. The searing area is fairly large, and good from groups.

I recently moved nearby and have been here numerous occasions now. Of course their Pho is great, I get the Chicken Pho, it's served fresh and hot! Also have tried the Shrimp Fried Rice, Shrimp Lo Mein and Teriyaki chicken plate. All have been good, although the Shrimp Fried Rice seems a bit greasier than normal. I absolutely love their Iced Thai Tea with boba! I would go here just for the Thai Tea! Service is fast and the whole place is a relaxed atmosphere, no one rushing you in or out, you can chill and watch their TVs, usually playing a movie or sports game. I been here before closing and they clean the place thoroughly, so that's always good.

So i was excited to get a boba and try it here for the first time. And in my first sip I was biting the boba and I bit something crunchy and turned out it was a fly. I am so disgusted I can't believe this happened. Horrible experience.

This is definitely one of my favorite pho places in La Mesa! There is a great variety of different pho's to order which I liked (chicken, tofu, seafood, etc.) and you can add the vegetables which makes it more filling/healthy/delicious. I'm also a fan of the cleanliness and the decor/fish tanks/rolling chairs. Com Tam never fails :)
(4)Nikki N.
The broken rice and egg rolls are delicious. And the pho was a lot cheaper than a lot of places in SD. The chairs were spinning chairs so it was really comfortable. My new fav place.
(5)Christina K.
I ordered egg rolls and combination fried rice. The egg rolls were thin and not as fried (a bit soggy). There was too much pepper in them and tasted plain. The dipping sauce was also plain. The combination fried rice did not have as much flavor as well and also had too much oil.

My husband and I come here all the time for Date Night. The servers are always pretty nice. Sometimes accents are really heavy, but we enjoy it. The 4.99 special for a bowl of Beef Pho is amazing. I personally love the Seafood one and that one is like 6.95 or something. Anyway. it's good. I was not a huge fan of the Shrimp & Pork Spring rolls, but I do love their Thai Tea Boba! We have brought family here as well, so it definitely is somewhere I would recommend. Great place!

Interesting place. Kind of threw me off with the mix of items on the menu and the layout of the place. Pho was pretty good. Nice large portion for a great price. Flavorful and served hot. Generous large slices of chicken in it. About par for Pho in the area. Wish they came out with fish sauce. Bottled fish oil on the table. Got some wings too. Not too good. Took a long time and came out very hot, with too much sauce. Suppose to be spicy but not close. Tried to be crispy but not happening and over cooked. Did the Americano twist with celery, carrots and ranch dressing. Iced espresso was really good. Super rich and flavorful. Service was kind of lacking for a slow weekend lunch crowd. Appeared to be the owners hanging out at a table too enthralled with the SciFi channel over service. Good place for a cheap lunch if you have the time and want to avoid a crowd.

We had a great meal here. Everyone was happy, especially the vegetarians. It was early Friday night and we walked right in and sat down at one of their comfortable tables. The server was efficient, funny and helpful. The food came fast, hot and cheap! We had 3 different Pho's and a broken rice dish. Definitely will be back
(4)Dustin N.
Their portions are really small for their price. Little pieces of meat and doesn't taste authentic at all. Overpriced for their portions and waiters don't seem attentive to customers at all. Will not be coming back.

There must be something about these Pho joints that offer $4.00 specials on pho...it isn't very good. Com Tam was okay...just okay, decent broth and fragrance. The large special bowl was an okay size except it didn't have very much meat. Just a few slices of rare steak and maybe 3 meatballs. The flavor was okay, no matter what I added to it there was something missing. Overall Com Tam was an okay experience. The service kinda sucks and the sate was a generic store brand kind that wasn't very good. I can't say much about the other dishes but for pho, I would definitely not come back. I'd drive 1 minute down the street to Pho Ca Dao instead. Anyway, go try yourself if you don't believe me. Peace!

I think this restaurant may be racist. I have come here many times alone, and I like the food, but when I came here with a friend who's half-Chinese and half-white, service was suddenly terrible. They messed up the order of spring rolls, gave me the wrong order, and when I sent it back, gave me (again) the wrong order, this time pho soup and without the bean sprouts and basil that always go with pho. And when our dinner was over, after waiting for the bill, I waved my hands to get their attention for the check and still didn't get a response. I had to walk over to where the staff were seated and ask for the bill. It spoils my memory of a place I used to like.

I'm sure the best Vietnamese food is in Vietnam, so I won't make another subjective rant about this restaurant. It's a family run place with a laid back atmosphere. Big menu with lots of yummy options. If you like Pho and rabbit food, they got it. If you're a carnivore like me, then you're in luck. Plenty of meaty options with good size plate portions. Prices are very reasonable compared to other Viet restaurants for the amount of food you get. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Remember that this is a family run Viet restaurant, so they're not going to annoy you and check up on you every 5 minutes. If you need something, just wave and ask...they'll happily get it for you. I've eaten here over 200 times...I'm still alive and happy. BTW, ordering to-go is easy and efficient too.
